It is September, and the season has entered the third autumn. On a crisp, refreshing autumn morning, all our colleagues from Gao Kai Precision set off from the Science and Technology Church Square, singing and laughing joyfully along the way, until we arrived at Suzhou—the “Venice of the East.” With its gardens renowned as the finest in southern China, our first stop was the Lion Grove Garden in Suzhou. Named for the “dense bamboo groves and numerous peculiar rocks beneath them, resembling fierce lions,” the Lion Grove Garden is one of Suzhou’s classical gardens. The residential area, epitomized by the Yan Yu Hall, serves as the garden’s main hall—a spacious and magnificent structure adorned with opulent furnishings. Within the central garden, the Lotus Pavilion and the Zhenqu Pavilion are beautifully built beside the water, featuring exquisite carvings. It is September, and the season marks the third autumn. On a crisp, refreshing autumn morning, all of Gao Kai Precision’s colleagues set off from the Science and Technology Church Square, singing and laughing joyfully along the way, and arrived at Suzhou—the “Venice of the East.”
The gardens of Suzhou are hailed as the finest in southern China, and our first stop was the Lion Grove Garden in Suzhou. Named for its “forests teeming with bamboo and beneath them many bizarre rocks shaped like lions,” the Lion Grove is one of Suzhou’s classical gardens. The residential area, epitomized by the Yan Yu Hall, serves as the garden’s main hall—a spacious, magnificent structure adorned with opulent furnishings. Within the main garden, the Lotus Pavilion and the Zhenqu Pavilion are beautifully built beside the water, featuring exquisite carvings. As we followed our guide’s explanations along the way—from the “Step by Step to Success” path to the “Five Blessings at Your Door”—we marveled at the wisdom of ancient craftsmen and admired the masterful artistry of the architecture. Later, we found ourselves “lost” in a labyrinth of artificial hills and rock formations; suddenly, the scenery would brighten up, revealing a serene river and pond stretching before us; then, climbing higher, we’d gaze out over the entire garden, taking in its breathtaking beauty. After about an hour, we gradually made our way out through the exit, posed for a group photo as a memento, yet still feeling reluctant to leave.
Su Dongpo wrote, “To visit Suzhou and not tour Tiger Hill—that would truly be a great regret.” After filling our bellies with delicious food and fine wine, we arrived at Tiger Hill, where the “Eastern Leaning Tower of Pisa” stands, filled with anticipation. Tiger Hill boasts three unparalleled wonders and nine delightful sights, among which the Yunyan Temple Pagoda, the Sword Pool, and the Thousand-Person Rock are the most famous. The Yunyan Temple Pagoda is the world’s second-least-sloping tower and has become an iconic landmark of Suzhou’s ancient city; the Sword Pool holds the age-old mystery of the tomb of King Helü of Wu; and the Thousand-Person Rock is renowned for the legendary tale of “Shenggong’s Lecture, with a thousand people seated below.” We climbed steadily along Tiger Hill’s central axis, passing by the Broken Beam Hall, the Sword-Testing Stone, and the Tomb of Zhen Niang, and took a memorable photo in front of Tiger Hill’s Sword Pool. As we approached the ancient and majestic Tiger Hill Pagoda, we realized that this tower had weathered countless storms, its surface marked by countless repairs and the passage of time.
At four o'clock, as the sunset slowly dipped below the horizon, our day-long tour of Suzhou came to an end, accompanied by the timeless and evocative sounds of the pipa from Tiger Hill. This group activity not only provided everyone with much-needed physical and mental relief after work but also fostered an even more harmonious and friendly atmosphere among us. As the saying goes, “Sharpening your knife won’t delay chopping wood.” In the future, our company’s cultural environment will continue to flourish, and we’re already looking forward to the next exciting event!

At the beginning of the annual meeting, General Manager Liu expressed his recognition and heartfelt gratitude for the tireless efforts and hard work of employee Gao Kai in 2023.
