1. About the product

Many customers hope that a single set of fixtures can accommodate all of their products. In fact, this approach isn't very practical. Even if it were feasible, it might not run smoothly in actual use. Meanwhile, a great deal of time is wasted on changing over between different products.

2. Regarding the design

Due to the product characteristics of automatic soldering machines, higher requirements are placed on tooling and fixtures. Whether the fixture design for a product is reasonable, user-friendly, and accurate is a key consideration in fixture design. In principle, when designing fixtures, it is essential to provide the supplier with the customer’s engineering drawings of the product; then, engineers will design the fixture drawings based on the customer-provided blueprints. When the fixture is a replica, only fixtures designed according to the drawings should be used to ensure consistency across all fixtures.

3. Regarding fixture manufacturing

In terms of materials, it is essential to use metallic materials and high-temperature-resistant materials, such as aluminum alloys and synthetic stone. Bakelite, glass-brazed plates, and acrylic are not recommended, as they require metal, high-temperature-resistant materials, and aluminum alloy machining fixtures to ensure longevity. Materials like glass-brazed plates have an average service life of only a few months, whereas aluminum alloys offer unparalleled durability.

Methods for adjusting leakage phenomena by soldering machine manufacturers:

1. Wipe regularly and keep the soldering iron tip clean. Since the heated soldering iron tip is constantly exposed to high temperatures when powered on, its surface is prone to oxidation or burning, which can impair its thermal conductivity. Such deterioration will affect the quality of soldering. Therefore, use a damp cloth or sponge to remove any impurities from the soldering iron tip. If the temperature becomes too high, temporarily unplug the power cord or allow the tip to cool down.

2. The welding temperature should be appropriate—neither too high nor too low. To ensure the temperature is just right, select a soldering iron that matches the size of the components being worked on. Regarding the selection of electronic components, when using an automatic soldering machine with a constant power output, pay close attention to controlling the duration of the heating time. When the solder automatically flows from the soldering iron tip onto the component to be soldered, the heating time is sufficient. At this point, quickly remove the tip of the soldering iron, leaving behind a smooth and flawless solder joint.

3. The soldering time should be carefully controlled and not excessively long. Properly managing the soldering time is an essential component of soldering technique. In the case of PCB soldering, the typical duration is between 2 and 3 seconds. If the soldering time is too long, the flux in the solder paste will completely evaporate, leading to loss of flux, oxidation of the solder joint surface, and resulting in a rough, darkened, lusterless, burr-ridden, or flux-flow-defective solder joint. Moreover, excessive soldering time and high temperatures can easily damage components or the copper foil on the PCB.
